Keep it up Ladies!

Hey Ladies!

Okay so I am a little sad there hasn't been any post so far....but I will keep writing no matter what! If you are having trouble signing up it is super easy, I know I have worked with Jenny and my mom, Sheryl. So you two should be set to go!

I had a wonderful Turkey Day and it was wonderful getting out and working with you, Jenny and Mom! I think we made some breakthroughs and gained a great sense of support through this whole process of trying to reach our individual goals. We have to remember that all of us are at different levels so know that if you are accomplishing something beyond what you have already been doing, you are stepping it up and becoming closer to becoming a healthier person.

During our conversations we had talked about two very common struggles that I wanted to mention to all of us.
1. Most difficult part: Initiating and getting inspired to get out there and work!
Solution: Remind yourself of the end goal and the fact that once you are out doing it it will become a lot easier.
2. Controlling portions: Sounds like we all have a sweet tooth!
Solution: Eating slower and enjoying what you are eating....instead of downing that candy bar (or whatever it is that you have a weakness in (i.e. Mom-Coke :-)) only to find you are longing for more! Know that having a small candy bar is just as much as a treat as 3 or 4 candy bars/cookies/etc.
I am creating a points system (I talked to Mom and Jenny about this): We all start off with 5 points.
Earn more points: 2 points for every day you can go without indulging yourself 1 point for every time you just have a small treat instead of 2, or 3, or 4, etc.
Take them away: 1 point for every time you don't control your portions.
Sunday: FREE DAY!

I am participating too! So know you aren't alone! I will ask each of us to report our scores for the week. Once you get 20 points you can indulge in a treat without losing any points, any day of the week!

What do you guys think of this idea? Will it work?

Challenge of the week:

Cardio workouts are essential to losing weight but resistance training is just as important so this week I want all of us to try to get in at least 2 resistance training workouts (and if that is already being done, find new exercises to work different muscles!). Don't have time to get to the gym:

Here are some alternatives! (Shoot for sets of 2-3 with 10-20 reps)
Calf raises while brushing your teeth
Tricep dips before you get in and out of bed.
Incline pushup at the kitchen counter
Squats as a break from sitting in that desk all day

Question of the week:

Did you have any times this week that you felt good about yourself when it comes to your exercise and nutrition plan?

What did you struggle with this week?

What do you dislike the most when it comes to working out? How can you overcome that?

Finally a Blog for you Working Moms!

Hey everyone! I wanted to create this for those people I have been working with to get in shape and looking good for the upcoming weddings in 2008! I would really like you guys to check it out frequently and discuss anything you wish, ask me questions, keep each other accountable, and request anything you want too! Hopefully with this we will all become better at getting active and feeling good! And in the end achieve the mental and physical image we are looking to find in ourselves!

I am so excited about this and I hope that you will all take advantage!
So to start off the discussion I have a few questions for you! How is working out going so far? What is the hardest thing you find in getting a workout in? Please share your goals with each other and any questions we can ask each other. Please call me if you have questions on posting stuff on the blogs, etc. Have a good weekend and we will talk later!
